Located in Ayer Massachusetts, near McDonalds at the 2A rotary.
We purchsed this unit from the original owner in Cullman Alabama. We had been stranded by Covid in Cullman (between Birmingham and Huntsville) while we were visiting family. We were spending a few months there in our 40 foot fifth wheel toy hauler, but wanted to do some traveling around too.
The original owner bought this trailer to park by a lake and use as a summer camp. They decided to buy a condo unit instead, so this trailer was used very little - we were lucky to find it!
We made some nice trips with it and enjoyed it very much. It tows straight and true, is pretty easy to park and is generally pretty comfortable. The living room has a better layout than our big toy hauler did!
Since we bought it we have:
* replaced the kitchen faucet - it had a tiny slow leak
* replaced the batteries - just cuz :)
* replaced the mattress - much more comfy now!
* replaced the tires - had a blowout - upsized them in the process
* replaced the air conditioner - it failed in Louisiana during a summer trip
* made some other changes that made it more like what we wanted.
There are some things that need to be fixed. Our price includes these fixes and upgrades, but if you would like to do the work instead, please make an offer. We live in a condominium complex which makes this kind of repair work rather troublesome. Items on the fix list:
* replace running lights with LED versions - some lens caps are missing
* replace the gray tank line to the rear tank - duct tape is holding it now
* repair the carbon monoxide / LP gas detector - the mount is bad
* replace the water pump - back flow valve stuck once
* replace table leg sockets - they are cracked
* replace water heater anode rod - routine maintenance
Key points to know or brag about:
* residential Whirlpool refrigerator - very generous size, top freezer
* inverter and dual batteries to keep food cold on the road
* power awning, slide and stabilizers can be operated with remote control
* thermostatic vent fan in the bathroom - remote control is missing
* real queen size mattress in bedroom, plus a foam topper
* upgraded tires from 205/75 to 225/75 - much more load capacity
* there is wiring for TV's in the bedroom and living room, but no TV sets or brackets
Also included in the sale are:
* assorted sewer hoses and connectors
* assorted water hoses and filters
* assorted power connectors and accessories
* parking chocks for the wheels
* leveling blocks (for side to side height adjustment)
* landing pads for the stabilizers
Far better general descriptions are available online and at YouTube - search for "2018 Salem 27RKSS travel trailer" or look up on JD Power. We did some research and here are some things we saw;
* weight is 6355 lbs + 1365 lbs cargo, total 7,220 lbs GVWR. Rated for 720 lbs on the hitch
* tank capacities are 56 gallons fresh, 69 total gray, 32 black, single dump point
* two 30 lb LP bottles with automatic switch-over
* power awning is 16 feet wide with LED lighting
* A/C is 13,500 btu with two fan speeds
* water heater is 6 gallons and runs on LP gas
* RVUSA.COM had units for sale from 18,950 to 23,250 during 2024
* RVUSA.COM also had one for sale in Encanitas California for 29,000
The trailer has been stored over the winter but recently cleaned, washed and detailed.
We have a clear title for this trailer, and will make arrangements to meet at a bank to sign the papers and transfer funds. The trailer will be ready for you to tow away then. We expect the buyer to pay a cash down payment of at least $1,000 to cancel all advertising. THIS DEPOSIT IS MANDATORY AND NON-REFUNDABLE! We expect full payment and title transfer to be complete within ten calendar days after your down payment and acceptance of our terms.
IF YOU DO NOT COMPLETE THE SALE WITHIN TEN CALENDAR DAYS YOU WILL FORFEIT YOUR DEPOSIT!
We want this transaction to be concluded as safely and securely as possible for both parties. We will help the buyer make arrangements to conclude the sale at a bank so title, bill of sale and funds may be processed in safe surroundings. We can help an out-of-town buyer make connection travel arrangements from an airport, bus or train station, and suggest overnight motel (or campground) possibilities as well.
We can deliver it to your location for a small extra fee. If you choose this option we will need a larger down payment (ten percent or more), agreement on an additional delivery charge (a dollar a mile? free within fifty miles?) and agreement on a delivery location to complete the sale. It is currently registered, insured and "road legal". (If we completed the sale first it wouldn't belong to us and our insurance and registration would not be valid when we moved it.)
Or we can simply complete the sale, after which you can take it wherever you wish. In this case it must be removed the same day.
Final payment is expected to be in a form that a bank will accept immediately with no recourse. For example, wire transfers, travelers checks or cash would be acceptable forms; money orders, personal checks or other instruments that are not immediately viable are not acceptable. THIS IS THE BUYER'S RESPONSIBILITY - unacceptable forms of payment will delay the transfer of the title to you and could cause you to forfeit your down payment.
The buyer is responsible for all matters concerning registration, insurance, sales taxes and other paperwork. If you need temporary plates to drive it home, you should bring them with you.
